Buffering Performance Analysis of an Ostrich-like Leg Based on a Seven-Link Parallel Mechanism

As one of the fastest running animals on land, ostrich’s excellent athletic ability benefits from its unique leg structure. Based idea bionics, this paper intends to obtain a kind robotic structure with similar buffering capacity that ostrich. For purpose, structural characteristics seven-link parallel mechanism are analyzed firstly, having some specific features ostrich legs, such as center mass (COM) located at root leg, large folding/unfolding ratio, and so on. Then, kinematic model bionic is established, energy storage flexible parts investigated. Finally, an impact experiment onto ground carried out verify accuracy established model. This systematically reveals nonlinear law elasticity ostrich-like provides performance in process hitting ground, based elastic properties by experiment.
